This large black bear was back in a meadow. I hiked along a ridge to get as close as it would allow me. It picked up my scent and that's as close as I got...it was on it's way out of the meadow when this image was taken. The following day, I watched this same bear stand up under a pine tree and rake the pine boughs with its front claws. It knew I was there then as well...black bears are not always black.
